Google Ads
Authorize Google Ads, select client accounts, sync performance, and control approved workflow changes.
Google Ads supplies campaign, ad group, keyword, search-term, spend, conversion, and performance data used by reports, incidents, and workflows.
Required Google Ads access
Authorize with a Google user that can access the intended Google Ads manager account and its direct client accounts. The available account selector is limited by that user's current provider access.
Marcenta requests Google Ads API authorization. This is not a read-only authorization: normal imports read reporting data, while a separately configured Push to Google Ads workflow can apply changes only after its required Human Approval step.
Marcenta does not provide a separate Google user picker. The Google identity used during OAuth becomes the authorizing user. One authorization can serve the active Marcenta workspace; individual representatives do not connect separately. Each selected Google Ads client account is retained as a separately managed Marcenta connection.
Verify access in Google Ads
- Sign in to Google Ads using the identity that will authorize Marcenta.
- Use the account selector to open the intended manager account.
- Go to Admin → Access and security → Users.
- Find the authorizing user's email and review its Access level. Read-only is sufficient for imports and reporting. A workflow that creates or re-enables negative keywords requires Standard or Admin access because those roles can edit campaigns.
- Open each intended client account and repeat Admin → Access and security → Users when access is granted directly. If access is inherited from a manager, confirm the manager is linked to the client and that the user can open the client from that manager.
- Confirm each client is active and appears as a direct child of the selected manager. Marcenta's selector lists direct client accounts available to the authorizing user.
Only a Google Ads administrator can invite users or change their access level. From Admin → Access and security → Users, an administrator can select the plus button to invite the integration user or edit the access level for an existing user. Grant Read-only unless approved Google Ads write workflows will be used; do not grant billing or administrative access solely for Marcenta.
See Google's descriptions of Google Ads access levels and manager-account user access.
Connect
- Open Connections → Google Ads.
- Start Google authorization.
- Review and grant the requested Google Ads access.
- Return to Marcenta.
- Select one or more direct client accounts available under the manager access.
- Complete setup and allow the initial import to run.
Selecting multiple client accounts can create separately managed connections. Confirm each customer ID and account name before completing setup.
Data and downstream use
Imported data can support:
- tables, charts, formulas, comparisons, and funnels in Reports;
- regression and opportunity detection;
- saved-report and analysis steps in Workflows;
- search-term review; and
- approved Google Ads destination actions.
Provider attribution, conversion settings, currency, time zone, and reporting delays affect the values Marcenta receives.
Manage
Open the connection to review the selected account, status, and sync timestamps. Depending on current state, you can sync recent data, import history, change the selected account, reconnect authorization, or disconnect.
Changing the selected client account changes the source of future imports. Review reports, detectors, workflows, and approvals that depend on the previous account before switching.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| No accounts appear | Confirm the Google user has access to direct client accounts under the expected manager |
| The expected child account is absent | Verify the manager relationship and that the account is a direct selectable child |
| Sync needs attention | Confirm the account is active and authorization has not been revoked |
| Values differ from Google Ads | Match customer ID, date range, time zone, currency, attribution, conversion columns, and finalized reporting |
| A workflow cannot push changes | Confirm Google Ads remains connected and the action follows one Human Approval step with the required approved output |
Because the authorization can support approved write actions, use a suitably scoped Google Ads user and review every external change before approval.
